Denver Windmill
One rainy morning in the summer term, Class 1 boarded a bus and headed for Denver Windmill. The plan had been to walk, but the forecast thunderstorms changed our minds.
At the windmill we ventured up three flights of stairs to the very top, where we saw enormous cogs and heard the sails go round. Further down, we had a go at grinding our own wheat to make flour.
Later, we gathered around a huge table to make some bread, using flour ground by the windmill. It was delicious!
After our trip we wrote instructions to help other people make bread like ours. We also wrote thank you letters to the staff at the Windmill and the people who came on our trip with us.
