Christingle
Every year the Ladies from St Mary’s Church come into school to assist the children in the making of a Christingle and this year was no exception. The children made the Christingle and then they were taken to the local church; the children had the opportunity to collect their christingle at St Mary’s Church Christingle Service. The children had fun putting sweets on the sticks (it was hard not to eat them as you worked but they didn’t!).
The children found out about the symbolism of a christingle.
The orange – represents the world
The red ribbon – indicates the love and blood of Christ
The dried fruits and sweets – symbols of God’s creations
The lit candle – symbolises Jesus, the light of the world
