Dear Parent/ Carer,
I would like to take this opportunity to let you know what topics Class 2 will be covering throughout the Summer Term 2019.
Literacy: This term we will be doing an author study on Roald Dahl. We are making our own in-class library of his books, so if you have any you would like to bring in please feel free to do so. Remember to name the books so they find their way back home.
Numeracy: The children will be learning about different units of measure and learning properties of 2d and 3d shape. They will also be using the four operations for problem solving.
Science: This term the children will learn about local habitats and learn about mini-beasts. They will continue their investigation of plants, looking specifically at deciduous and evergreen trees.
Design Technology / Art /Cookery: In DT we will design, make and evaluate a package for Teddy’s T-shirt. In art we will be looking at patterns in nature, making a collage using natural materials and looking at the work of the artist Matisse. In cookery they will be making a fruit salad to complement their science learning about plants.
Music: This term Class Two will be learning some songs to perform at a music festival with other schools from within the cluster. They will also be looking at different vocal styles and techniques (scat, beatboxing, etc) and continuing to develop their listening skills.
PE: The children will learn the skills for net and wall games and then athletics as we prepare for sports day. Please remember to remove any earrings on Monday and Tuesday. Also, please include a pair of trainers, jogging bottoms and a P.E. top just in case the weather is cold. We will also be continuing with the Golden Mile Challenge.
PSHE: This term the children will learn about being a good citizen and will have the opportunity to do a Show and Tell on this topic.
RE: This term the R.E. the children will learn Judaism.
Geography/History The topic for geography is about comparing where we live with a contrasting country. The history for this term is about events which have significantly changed the world and our topic is the History of Flight.
Computing: The children will learn about internet safety. The theme this term is learning about the use of computing outside of the school.
